  • 1872 – 2 shafts sunk to 288ft
  • 1883 – Major subsidence damaged up to 200 houses in Boosbeck
  • 1886 – Large water feeder struck which begins to flood mine.
  • 1887 – Mine closed as water continues to fill workings.

Known locally as “Stivvys Mine” due to its owners name, all subsequent activity after 1887 comes within South Skelton Mine.

Virtually nothing remains on the surface and no contemporary photos are known
