The drainage level for Skelton Park Ironstone mine is something of a mystery as it initially goes downhill (drainage levels universally go uphill to allow the water to flow out) it’s currently unknown whether this is subsidence or how it was intended
The weir on Skelton Beck carries this beautiful 1894 date, the weir served the mill at Apple Orchard nearly a mile away, potentially the longest mill race in country.
