The spectacular Guibal fanhouse at the top of Huntcliff is one of the better known of Clevelands remaining ironstone mining structures.

Fanhouse remains, showing the original location of a 30ft fan.
Shallow shaft inside the fanhouse, which ran horizontally into hillside

The entrance to the mine was actually under the railway line with ironstone being pulled onto a loading ramp on the opposite side of the tracks by a steam engine.

Miners in 1906, around the time the mine closed.
