Spring Cottages, one of houses built to the west of Belmont mine around 1910 at a cost of £700 for the mine officials (the under-manager, engine-wright and horse-keeper) recently came onto the market.

When passing by last week there was a ‘Sold’ sign , so here the estate agents listing

My husband’s great grandfather was manager of Belmont from 1915. He lived at Red House Guisborough not Spring Cottages
Thanks for the info Christine, I’m not familiar with the ‘Red House’
Is this it ?

The house being sold was either the horse managers or the engine/equipment managers. I live in the detached one next door and always thought it was the managers but now think it was the under managers. There used to be a tennis court at the bottom of the garden!
