The following photograph is taken from the North-Eastern Daily Gazette on November 16th 1927.

This report appeared in the Shields Gazette the next day.
Further information and photos from the ‘East Cleveland Image Archive’ show that the bridge was strengthen with a second arch inside the original, iron ties and the left hand side was concreted.
However this must have happened in two stages as this photo shows an identical view with the double-arch in place, but without the concrete and ties (perhaps those two are the 1927 repairs)
The bridge was demolished in the mid 1960s after the closure of the line.



I would suggest that the last two images are from very different eras. The attire of the two ladies strikes me as being typical of the 1930s or 1940s. The horse drawn cart would be typical of the 1890s or early 1900s.
