3D Photogrammetry allows the rapid recording of a 3D scene, the following was produced with 75 photos from a very basic camera taken in under 5 minutes as the sun was setting. This can allows amateur groups to quickly and very accurately record their findings.
Better cameras, more photos and more angles can improve results even further.
