Volunteer Archaeology Fieldwalking on Airy Hill

CLEVELAND ARCHAEOLOGY TRUST is conducting fieldwalking around Airy Hill Farm, near Boosbeck, off the Cleveland Way footpath above Skelton Green. (see below).

Sunday 29 Sep Informal Volunteer Drop-In Induction – where, why, how and what finds handling.

Where: Tees Wildlife Trust, Margrove Heritage Centre, Margrove Park, Boosbeck, TS12 3BZ

Time: Midday until 3pm (any time)

Fieldwalking Mon-30-Sep thru Fri-04-Oct around 9.30am to 3.30pm (suitable clothing for walking wet ploughed fields and weather, food & fluids)

10-15 max volunteers aged 18+, age 11+ (but is school week) require parent or guardian presence (no dogs please).

Portaloo provided, Insurance covered for third party liability.

Parking/transport advice to be confirmed – we have a 4×4 with 3-passenger room and can do runs from Skelton Green; the walk from there to the farm is moderate but not long.

Airy Hill Farm is “HQ” (Google Map https://tinyurl.com/y6xjpgcn)

Ideally I’d like to confirm folks (and days) at the Sunday induction. It would be great if anybody interested could also register at https://clevelandarchaeology.com/contact/ | project information is at https://clevelandarchaeology.com/reaping-time/

Apologies for the very short notice – tied into the agricultural calendar and supervision. There will be more chances – and much more fieldwork – next year, grant funding dependent.

Kind Regards, Spencer Carter (Spence)
